The movie opens with a group of friends on a road trip, laughing and taking selfies as they drive through the countryside. Suddenly, their car breaks down in the middle of nowhere and they realize they have no cell phone reception.

Desperate to get help, one of the friends, Jessica, hikes up a nearby hill in search of a signal. As she reaches the top, she sees something that fills her with dread – a mysterious figure watching them from a distance.
